Movement is Marked Cheefoo China. Chefoo, renamed Yantai after the communist revolution, was a city in China where art and educational influence of the British was fostered. The Chefoo School was featured in the movie "Chariots of Fire". Chefoo was occupied by the Japanese in 1937.  Following WW2 Mao Tse Tung and his followers tried to erase all remnants of the past - part of the cultural revolution. It became the first major city held by the communists and was a scene of intense fighting between the Communists and the Nationalists. This clock is truly rare in that it survived the carnage. It appears that the dial has been buffed to remove a Logo or makers name - probably to keep it from being destroyed during the cultural "cleansing" that followed.
