VINTAGE NAVAL OBSERVATORY WESTERN UNION CLOCK NICE LOOK Start Price USD 499.00 Current Price USD 499.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Wednesday, July 23, 2008 End Time Monday, July 28, 2008 Location Van Alstyne, Texas See more about 'VINTAGE NAVAL OBSERVATORY WESTERN UNION CLOCK NICE LOOK' Description Folks here is a clock you are not goint to find very often and especially in this kind of condition.  This Western Union Naval Observatory clock came out of the old Humble gas station in Van Alstyne, Texas.  The station has been gone many years but the old gentlemen that owned the station sold the clock and here it is.  It was working when he took it down and I have no reason to believe that it would not kick right off today.  The battery is a 11/2 volt dry cell ignition ray-o-vac and I doubt the battery is still good and I am sure you probably cannot find one but 2 D Cells wired together will work and this I know for sure.  The clock has the unusual pendelum pictured and the little red light on the clock face right under the hands.  I am told this was to sync up the time to the observatory every day.  I also understand that there was a monthly charge in order to sync up the clock daily and Western Union had a bunch of these clocks out but you can't hardly find them today.  Anyway, enough about the little I know about it.  Don't let this one get away from you.  Size is approx. 19" across the clock.  All original and ready to add to your collection.
