We find a myriad of items, some of which we offer to our faithful eBay friends. Recently, we purchased several fine old clocks from a New England estate. This week, we're offering many of these interesting works of horological art to those of you looking for something unique and mesmeric. This auction is for an absolutely DELIGHTFUL antique short-drop school house clock -- in what appears to be solid wood construction -- from the recesses of an old estate. These clocks were among the most handsome and popular wall clocks of the early 20th century. Not only historic, they are mesmeric works of horological art. Called "schoolhouse regulators," they adorned the walls of railroad offices, schools, government buildings, post offices and hardware stores. Not are they handsome, they're reliable, made by one of the finest clockmakers in the world. Measuring approx 24 inches tall by 16 inches wide by 5 1/2 inches deep -- with "12" dial marked "I.R.E./R.G.B.;" it does look as if it would be the centerpiece of an old bank or telegraph office. With its thick oak octagonal bezel; large, instantly recognizable dial and classic short drop pendulum with tiny glass door, it would look WONDERFUL on that wall of yours, or as a gift to someone you love and/or admire. I BELIEVE to be an 8 day movement, although it could be longer. It does run as I write this and includes a correct key. However, please note that I CANNOT guarantee running condition or accuracy, as we have not cleaned, oiled and calibrated the clock ourselves. One must have the lovely lady serviced before depending on her daily. To the person with excellent taste who recognizes this art -- heartfelt congratulations!
