This is a very nice early production "Ball Clock" originally designed by George Nelson for Howard Miller circa 1947. This particular clock is dated July 1952 to the inner clockworks. The clock is a wall-hanging electric version in original, untouched condition. The piece is comprised of solid birch balls which act as numbers, a solid birch round casing, brass-plated steel arms which attach the balls to the casing, original second, minute and hour hands and original white finish with the Howard Miller label to the back. The clock basically works when it wants to. It does not start running unless it is "tapped" on the back of the casing. This could be an easy fix or you could add a battery mechanism to the inside. This is an early version showing nice age and patina perfect for use in that classic mid century home or office! ITEM- Dated 1952 George Nelson Ball Clock CONDITION- Good showing age and wear in the form of rubs to the white finish and a strong patina. Slight paint flaking to the hands and oxidation to the brass plate on the arms. A little TLC would do wonders as the clock is in as-found condition from the original owners. AGE- Signed and dated July 1952 to the inner housing.
