It originated in Ming Dyn XuanDe period(1426-1435AD), when ceramists started to combine blue-and-white underglaze with alum red overglaze in porcelain decoration. And later developed into a mature technique in ChengHua period(1465-1487AD). It was to paint half of the designs with blue pigment and glazed at high temperature. After blue-and-white decorations' figuration, then finish the rest designs with multi colors and glaze at much lower temperature.
